Peek in her purse!

Emily Hearn
Emily Hearn is a 22 year old Singer/Songwriter who just so happens to be my cousin but also one of my best friends! We just wrapped up another successful and memory filled Hearn Family Vacation and it got me thinking...you get that many girls together and we are bound to have forgotten or feel the need to borrow something and if these goodies aren't found in our over packed suitcase then they are usually found in our PURSE!
So here are the first ten things Emily Hearn pulled out of her bag:
  1. Iphone
  2. Ray Banns:  these are the ones she rocking these days!
  3. Burts Beeswax Chapstick.
  4. Orbit Spearmint
  5. Bobby Pins
  6. Vera Bradley Large wallet
  7. Ibuprofen
  8. Tums Smoothies
  9. Eyelash Curlers
  10. "they're real" mascara by Benefit

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. Luke 22:35

Everyday Jacket

I LOVE this trend. And although we pretty much skipped Spring and went straight to Summer there are days like today when a jacket is needed and I grab my utility jacket first thing! It looks so cute with just about anything! I love this one from Tommy Hilfiger but I could pocket the $215 bucks it saves me to buy the Forever 21 one and finish the outfit from head to toe instead!

Applesauce bars

I have never been a fan of applesauce but Wes loves it so when I found this recipe on my all recipes app and saw we had all the ingredients I thought what the heck....and it paid off! Yum!

Ingredients
•1/4 cup softened butter
•2/3 cup brown sugar
•1 egg
•1 cup applesauce
•1 cup all purpose flour
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (this I didn't have so I used cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg.
•1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
•3 tablespoons melted butter
•1 tablespoon milk
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease 9x13 pan.

In a bowl mix butter, brown sugar, and egg. Stir in the applesauce. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and spice. Stir into the applesauce mixture until blended. Spread in pan.

Bake for 25 minutes (edges should be getting golden brown).

Cool on wire rack.

In a small bowl mix together sugar and butter. Stir in vanilla and milk until smooth. Spread over cool bars.

We loved them!

Banana Republic vs. Target

I love talking clothes with Teresa and she just lets me rant and rant about who designs this and what to pair with that so for Christmas she asked that we combine forces and give her a head to toe outfit...Challenge! I'M GAME! It was so fun...if I didn't love being with those kids so much...
I'd look into being her personal shopper :)

So here is a comparison of the always chic and classic Banana Republic and Target! BOTH are great places to shop but why not look at the styles that are so similar you wont believe it...and neither will your wallet!

I love these tops! Target carries this in four colors and with the removable belt!

Trench...must have...

Nude pumps are a must have and the wedge are a more comfortable version...

Flats Friday! or for your weekend look!

These are not exact replicas but pretty close
and all would be great additions to your work wardrobe Teresa!!:)

high end vs. good old fashion bargain hunting

I love home decorating just as much if not more than shopping for shoes and clothes and I find that the same bargaining principles are in home shopping as well. You need a) patience b) a computer and c)imagination.

Neiman Marcus has some of the most amazing home furniture pieces around but not everyone can afford thier pieces, myself being included. Here are a few things I found at Target that are close enough to make your home have the same statement pieces but at a FRACTION of the cost!

These chairs around a dinning room table...Molto bella! Even different colors! And you would save SO much buying them this way, you could afford to have them recovered or better yet do them yourself (and maybe even some nailhead trim!)!

If these "looks for less" would appease you...you could save $2,759.01!!!!!!

frugal fashion

Loving clothes, shoes and anything fabulous is not always cheap. I always love finding a good bargain and have recently found fun in finding an inexpensive version of the high priced clothes I love. Styles and trends are always changing so as my soul sister Maryam always says....
"invest in the key pieces and play with the inexpensive."
She is definitely one of my style icons and her knowledge of fashion and advice is always spot on. One of our favorite places never lets us down....forever21. when will we ever be too old to shop there....i'll let you know...

Jcrew is FABULOUS but sometimes out of my price range for my monthly shopping excursions...
Here are a few comparisons that i found on this lazy sunday...Jcrew vs. 4ever
All of these aren't exact replica's but close enough to save...$339.20....enough to convince me!
